You might appreciate this episode more, if you like the name "Gary" so much that you want to hear it repeated about six times. I couldn't see what was supposed to be so special about Gary. He was a little better looking than Urkel, but so what? Also, those stupid braids hanging over his eyes didn't help matters. The story is par for the course. Laura goes to a cheerleading competition in Nebraska. Urkel follows her there, because he is jealous of Gary. Routine stuff for the series, but any screen time between Laura and Steve is worth watching! I liked the girls in their short, short skirts. The only annoying thing was the way Gary was projected as some kind of "hunk." Just because a guy is not a nerd, that doesn't make him a hunk. Anyway, my sympathy is with Steve. He's the only man for Laura!

Laura is going for a Cheerleader competition out of town. Her parents finally allow her to do it without any fighting because they feel she is mature. But Urkel doesn't feel like it. He goes to spy on her to prevent her boyfriend from doing anything "bad" and actually interrupts her giving her a morality lecture.
At first I loved how Winslows started treating Laura more as an adult by letting her go. I could never understand why they didn't do it before considering her character.
But I found it frankly disturbing how Urkel went to "look after her". I get it being one of their lessons to tell teens not to do anything "horrible" when their parents trust them, but that they did it this way and Urkel came off as doing a right thing pretty insulting and wrong.
