In a recent viewing, I realized that this is my favorite Family Matters episode. I absolutely love watching Steve and Laura together. They actually get me emotional, and nowhere more than this episode. Very interesting to see the tables turn. When Laura told Steve to get out of her life, she was almost crying. When Steve became the "normal" person, he told Laura off without a trace of remorse. He also seemed to dislike her. Interesting. Laura never disliked Steve. Not anywhere in the series. It was his weird dynamic that she couldn't deal with. How seriously you take the "guardian angel" thing doesn't really matter. The point is made and driven home. Steve and Laura have a bond. They are connected to each other. Which of them was normal or a nerd didn't really matter. It was only the difference in their respective dynamics that stood between them. I'm a big Kellie S Williams fan. She put her heart and soul into "Laura Winslow." In this episode, she had me laughing and crying at the same time! Jaleel White was great as Steve, but Kellie was actually a little better as Laura. People have criticized this show for focusing too much on Urkel. I don't quite agree. The "nerd" thing was taken too far. The "Steve-Laura" connection was the most appealing aspect of the show. The beauty of that connection is what should have been highlighted more often. All the other craziness wasn't really necessary.
