While the kids are visiting Moses who is lying in bed, Harold says, "One of us should go back to get Doc Thompson and the Sheriff, one of us should stay with Moses and watch over him, and the rest of us should try and catch up with Laddie." Will replies, "That is good thinking Harold." Lizette prepares to go to Jackson. But the rest of them pile into the wagon to go after Laddie. What happened to one of them watching Moses?
When the kids decide to run out during lunch to try to get Laddie, there are two shots in front of Abby's house: one of the rustlers and one of the kids going after them--both were shot early in the morning or late afternoon, clearly indicated by the long shadows.
In much of the world, lightning comes before thunder; apparently at Gold Hill, which can be seen in the opening scene, thunder comes just before the associated lightning. Furthermore, a few faraway lightning strikes, indicated by flashes that were not as bright, had simultaneous thunder or thunder before the strike, rather than having thunder come seconds later like in the real world.
In the river scene, Will takes off with Laddie after the bullets he put in the fire start going off. Rawlins takes off after him. THEN Murphy, Sheriff and a posse show up. Will and Rawlins are off in the brush. In all the commotion, how could Murphy know which direction to go, since Will was long gone?
