  Mal : Okay, I need that in captain dummy talk, Kaylee.

  Bester : The, red, what?

  Kaylee : Red couple. Right here. See?

  Bester : No.

  Kaylee : This. I'm pointing' right at it.

  [She pulls it off the engine] 

  Bester : Hey!

  [Kaylee works on the engine and it starts] 

  Bester : What'd you do?

  Mal : She fixed it.

  Kaylee : Well it wasn't really broke.

• Kaylee : Shepherd Book was just tellin' us funny stories about his life at the monastery.

  Wash : Monastic humor, I miss out on all the fun. And all the food, too, apparently!

• Kaylee : Well, Shepherd told us a funny story about being a preacher. Now you tell us a funny story about being a doctor.

  Dr. Simon Tam : Ah, a funny story.

  Jayne : Yeah, cus sick people are hi-lar-ious.

• Mal : Kaylee. Kaylee, look at me. I need you up in the engine room figurin' out what caused this.

  Kaylee : [looking toward the injured Zoë]  She ain't moving.

  Kaylee : Serenity's not moving.

• Kaylee : Six gerstlers crammed right under every cooling drive so that you strain your primary artery function, and you end up having to recycle secondary exhaust through a bypass system just so's you don't end up pumping it through the main atmofeed and asphyxiating the entire crew.
