Happy Mother's Day to all of you who are mothers, including my own Mom, my sisters and friends! Right now, I'm reviewing Season 2's Trouble-In-Law, written by Warren Foster, Mike Maltese and Arthur Phillips. This is Wilma's mother's 1st appearance and was voiced by Verna Felton. Hal Smith plays Melville J Mutchrocks. John Stephenson plays Joe Rockhead, the French hairdresser and the Carnival announcer. It all begins with Fred reluctantly helping Wilma clean the house for a new visitor- his personal nemesis, her Mother! He agrees to be nice to her, but doesn't keep his promise for long! She announces she's sold her house and will be moving in. Then the 2 of them turn the garage into a room- for Fred! Fred is so upset he can't even concentrate on his golf game. At the golf course, his buddy Joe Rockhead introduces Fred to Melville J Mutchrocks, a rich tycoon from Texas looking for a spouse. Fred invited him over to meet his Mother-in-law. The 2 hit it off, much to Wilma's concern. The next day, Wilma's mother asks to be taken to the bank so she can use her money to invest in oil stock. Wilma and Betty have their hair done and overhear about a phoney tycoon from Texas who's a bigamist. Wilma runs out of the beauty parlor and tells Fred to find the 2 of them. They run into them and disguise themselves while following them. Then at a restaurant, Melvin tries to propose to her. Barney (disguised as a waiter) "accidentally" pours soup on Melville. Fred (disguised as a cook) tells him they'll settle outside. So Melville excuses himself and Fred and Barney hijack him. They accuse him of bigamy and fraud and shove him onto a frieght train. The next morning, Wilma's mother is heartbroken and Wilma discovers in the news the police captured the real bigamist. Fortunately, Wilma's mother discovers her check for the oil investment came in! Things I liked: Some of the comments left by the animals as household gadgets like "My favorite- fillet of trash!" Wilma is definitely a good daughter to her mother. And though Fred is understandably not fond of her, he also doesn't want to see his Mother-in-law get ripped off by a stranger. When you marry, sometimes you need to look out for your spouse's family. And just so you know, a bigamist is someone who proposes marriage to someone while already or still married themselves. I give this episode 9 shares of oil stock out of 10!
