Bud gets the wrong end of the stick
wrxsti547 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Yet again Bud ends up in trouble - this time because he misconstrued what the TV repair guys said when they came to take away their TV to be repaired about how sad it was they had to repossess TVs. Porter had asked his boys to pull their weight more and get jobs and Bud thinks the guys came to repossess the TV due to Porter's financial woes.

While walking on the seashore, Flipper finds a $20 bill and leads Bud to a treasure chest underwater where he finds a stack of counterfeit notes. He goes to a second hand store and gets a TV, furniture and other items and a large tub of ice-cream that he eats and falls asleep.

Sandy and Porter arrive back after dark to find junk on the floor and Bud passed out. Next morning a Treasury agent comes to arrest Porter for passing forged notes. Porter goes to find Bud and finds a note from Sandy indicating they are exploring the wreck where the notes were found. The agent indicates it is booby trapped as they arrested the real counterfeiters and they all race to the site in the launch and Porter gets the boys out before they trip the explosion.

Two funny scenes: 1st Sandy talks 60's hip talk about Flipper flummoxing Bud who asks such dumb questions that Sandy eventually does the teen brother frustrated with kid brother routine. 2nd - Porter obviously gives both boys an old fashioned spanking because they end the show cycling around on their bikes doing a paper route with a pillow cushioning their ride due to their tanned hides!

Get a Job
wes-connors26 September 2007
After Bud (Tommy Norden) and Sandy (Luke Halpin) frolic in the water with Flipper and Pete, Ricks (Brian Kelly) suggests his sons consider helping out with the expenses by getting jobs; a Park Ranger doesn't make a lot of money, he notes. When the "Chapman Television Service" carts away the family TV for repairs, Bud thinks it's being repossessed because Ricks can't make payments. The Ricks' imagined money problems are seemingly solved when Flipper leads Bud to some shipwrecked money. He doesn't know the money is counterfeit; instead of helping Ricks, Bud's spending spree gets his father in trouble with the Sheriff (Eric Applewhite); then, Sandy, Bud, and Flipper face danger when investigating the sunken ship...

A Boy and His Greed
mitchrmp7 November 2012
This story seems to have a moral in it. It starts with Dad telling the boys that they are going to have to get jobs to earn some money. Bud, wanting to spend his spare time playing rather than working, is quite upset about this and sits to decide how to take care of the problem. But then he thinks they're poor when the TV repair man takes their TV away. Meanwhile, Flipper finds some money and Bud goes to investigate. He finds an underwater treasure of money. Does he call int he authorities? NOPE! Good ol' Bud takes the money and spends it all over town!

Of course, many times when the child does something wrong, the parent is punished. Why is Po in trouble with the law? Well, you'll have to watch it to find out!

The ending shows the punishment for the boys - yes, I said BOYS! Because it gets worse...just watch it! In the end, the boys have to deliver their papers while sitting on pillows...really!
