Save Flipper!
mitchrmp17 November 2012
Warning: Spoilers
It's another shark story. This time, Flipper saves a man who was attacked from a shark, alerting Porter of another shark problem in the preserve. The victim tells Porter where they were and he, Flipper, and Sandy set out on a boat in search of the sharks.

My favorite part of this episode is when Porter and Sandy discover the stupid divers who are actually playing with the sharks and hunting them~ There was no way Porter was going to go down and rescue them - getting himself killed int he process. He did various things to get their attention. He beat on the side of the boat a couple times, then he took his gun and fired into the water. It took some doing, but he finally got the men to surface and he was none to kind to them once he got them on board either! It was fun to watch Sandy shark fishing. It was also interesting to see that for once, Flipper had to be saved.

Sharks are nasty

Warning: Spoilers
This episode adds flushing out shark schools from Coral Key Park to the list of interesting jobs Porter Ricks must do as well as rescuing stupid people diving or boating in the Park. In this case the only way he can get the attention of some young foolhardy shark chasing divers was to shoot into the water! Sandy proves he's not a kid anymore by joining the shark hunt in a bigger vessel with shark bait and hooks on board and the episode has actual footage of him landing several big nasty sharks. In an interview Luke Halpin mentioned how dangerous this scene was to the point where the camera crew almost pulled out and also how he refused to allow stunt doubles to be filmed in his place. Considering he was not a real big kid even at 18 the age he was when this was filmed, it was no mean achievement.

Flipper is useful in finding the sharks... until even he (actually almost all the dolphins were shes) gets overwhelmed and has to be rescued by Porter and Sandy. Another exciting episode and one of only 4 in the series to not feature Bud who is away on a campout.
