On March 1, 1961, President John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order 10924 that officially started the Peace Corps. During its history, its Volunteers worked in Brazil from 1962 to 1981. Actor Richard Sanders was an actual volunteer there from 1966 to 1969.
Sister Bertrille (Sally Field) gives details about her family, as she shows a letter from her older sister Jennifer, who plans to visit. Elsie Ethrington (Bertrille's original name) comes from a medical family: her father and sister are doctors, her mother is a surgical nurse, and her brother is a medical student. Elsie herself took a year of nurse's training, before she became a nun.

Between 1967-72, TWA was the world's third-largest airline by passenger-miles, behind Aeroflot and United.
