This episode really shows the series' green credentials & you could show it on TV today, 30 years later, and it would seem current.

The over arching issue is the river. Pollution of it, the decline in wildlife (especially otters) but also harnessing the power of the water for energy humans can use - all stuff we see all the time in the papers right now.

The Boults are still busy involving themselves in other people's lives, but of course it works out & none of the people presented as antagonists turn out to be really all that antagonistic. Hilly & Lady Pat are still being uncharacteristically talkative but it's growing on me & the way they were portrayed in series 1 probably wasn't sustainable for a longer run of the show.

Jack's brother in law (his first wife's brother) is visiting & makes a welcome addition to the cast & it would be nice if paraplegic Jenny turns up again, though I suspect she won't.

The big criticism of this one is that it sort of trails off leaving a couple of threads unresolved - the proposed installation of a turbine in the river & I was hoping for more of a resolution about the former resident of the outbuilding.
