Greed was, and will always be part of human nature. This episodes shines a light on what people do for money. Cheat, steal, murder... Even though Lacroix ist not exactly what you'd call selfless, he's right when, in one of the backflashs, he tells Knight that material wealth is a burden. There's a limit of what you need for living, what you need to be happy and a limit from which more money only causes problems. Question is, whether or not one realizes when the third limit is reached.
