In the opening scene, Niles (David Hyde Pierce) is playing a Schubert piece on the piano. This is the same piece used in the intro for the NBC comedy "Wings (1990)." "Wings" shared several staff members and a handful of cast members with "Frasier" over the years, including David Angell. This was a tribute to David Angell, who had died 2 months before in the 9/11 terrorist attacks when his plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
The piano piece that Niles and Roz play together is the Andante from Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 (sometimes referred to as "Elvira Madigan").
This episode won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Multi-Camera Sound Mixing for a Series or Special.
The title is a parody of La-Z-Boy Inc., a furniture manufacturer from Monroe, Michigan, famous for the manufacture of recliners starting in 1929. Also Martin Crane's (John Mahoney) favorite place to sit is in his recliner that resembles a La-Z-Boy.
When Daphne (Jane Leeves) sits down at the table to play the practice pad, the keyboard is upside down when she plays it.
