A key episode-also extremely funny
CubsandCulture7 May 2021
The first season of the show is largely about Martin and Frasier learning to live together. While the tension continues after this episode this is where the characters get cemented together in (re)building their father-son relationship. The material is heartwarming especially looking back at it after the show's run was over. It also helps that the episode is extremely funny. "sure" "dear God it must be genetic" etc. Are some of the funniest lines in the show's entire run.

All In the Same Boat (RV)

Frasier decides to bond with his dad by going on a road trip. When Daphne decides to go along, the sycophantic Niles joins the others. They decide to go to Mr. Rushmore but Frasier says they are too focused--they should be spontaneous. Unfortunately for Daphne, they end up in Canada and her immigration status won't allow her to leave the U.S. There is some pretty funny stuff as a result.

One of two great episodes featuring an RV. I find this one a bit more fun due to the Niles/Daphne relationship(or lack thereof-poor Niles). The road trips seem to bond the Cranes while giving us belly laughs.

I wouldn't say that this is my favourite episode of the show, or even from the first series (though apparently it was of John Mahoney, who is so excellent throughout as Martin), but it is, as other reviewers here have said, key in the life of the show.

There's some very funny moments, and once it gets going, proves to be a lovely outing for the show. There's something very funny about the way Jane Leeves as Daphne says 'sure' too, it gets me every time.

So yes, not a classic, but another steady instalment, that goes for that standard sitcom device/plot hook of sticking all the characters together in a small space and seeing what sparks fly.
