Will gets a shock when he flunks his history test. In trying to explain to Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv, he notes that the history course doesn't teach the whole story - that it eliminates black history all together. He suggests that Bel-Air Academy could use a course in black history and Aunt Viv agrees and even offers to teach the class. Will enters the class with confidence that he knows all about black history but finds that he doesn't know as much as he thought he did. He and Carlton, figuring that the class would be a breeze, find that it's harder then they thought it would be but the rest of the class is so enthusiastic that they draw up a petition to permanently keep her on as their teacher - they need 150 signatures but they have 148. Later, at home, Aunt Viv schools the boys on the importance of black history, not just as a free ride.
