The One Where Ross Got High
ComedyFan201017 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Just another one of the excellent Thanksgiving episodes. What is not to like there?

The whole idea of Ross's parents not liking Chandler because Ross blamed pot smell in his room on him is just great. And how Ross was thinking what new lie to come up with. The moment where Ross and Monica tell each other's secrets within a minute to the parents is the highlight of the episode and one of my favorite scenes

It is also great how Rachel messes up the dessert by making it with beef. It is funny how everyone got rid of it. Except Ross who eats it very fast so that Rachel doesn't taste it (although it is weird she didn't get a piece) and Joey who actually enjoyed it

Phoebe's crush on Jack Gellar made one laugh as well

Top 3 funniest episode ever.

FRIENDS made the "Thanksgiving episode" an institution. This is the best of the bunch and also one of the best of entire series.

-Chandler finds out Monica's parents don't like him. -It turns out that that Ross blamed Chandler for a pot smell in his room and Jack and Judy have been weirded out by him ever since. -Complicating matters Joey and Ross are invited to spend Thanksgiving drinking with Jeanine's dancer friends. -Rachel is tasked with making dessert but the recipe for the English truffle gets commingled with a Sheppard's pie. -Phoebe, in a weird throw-in story line, realizes she had a sexual dream about Jack Geller and Jacques Cousteau. It sounds strange but she interjects references at odd places and it strangely works.

Every storyline is woven perfectly into one another along with a good dose of physical comedy as Ross and Joey try to eat the meat-riddled dessert.

"It tastes like FEET!" screams Ross.

One of my favorites!

Aside from the stupid Phoebe storyline, this is one of the best episodes. Nicely layered and I love when shows have lots going on in one setting. Cast is working on all cylinders here and it shows.

Ross smoked pot
Lady_Targaryen8 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
It's Thanks Giving and all the Friends want Monica to make the big food celebration of the day. Monica promised Rachel that she could make the dessert for the day, and everybody hates the new(And everybody have a reason, since Rachel doesn't have success in making the dessert, mixing the ingredients and adding steak into the dessert!).

Monica's parents are coming to the celebration in her house and Monica doesn't want Chandler telling her parents that they are living together. Her parents don't know they are dating, specially because they don't like Chandler. When Chandler discovers that Monica's parents don't like him, he decides to talk to Ross, who admits that the reason they hate Chandler is because Ross blamed Chandler of smoking pot in their house, when in fact, Ross was the one who smoked.

Janine calls Ross and Joey to have Thanks Giving dinner with her and her dancer friends, but they cannot accept the invitation even wanting a lot: they promised Monica to be at her Thanks Giving dinner. While having dinner, Joey and Ross cannot wait to end the dinner to meet the girls.

9.2? This is one of the worst episode of the show what's the matter with these ratings ?! I expected Ross being high: nope! I expected the dance party bit at Joeys appartment being so funny: nope and forgotten! I expected funny jokes: nope! But i didn't want a 30 year old man apologize to his parents for smoking a joint when he was in highschool i mean.... seriously?! Anyway bad episode!

Rachel's subplot is the weakest part
puzgolac1 July 2023
This is not a terrible episode, but it is definitely nowhere near a 9/10. Rachel's subplot is the weakest part of this episode. It makes absolutely no sense, it is straining logic beyond the breaking point and is not funny at all. Not only is she, apparently, so disconnected from reality that she does not realize the impossibility of her "recipe", but for some reason, that is never explained, she is the only one not to try her dessert? I get that it is OK for sitcom plots to be silly, but when they are as stupid as this one, they just can't be funny.

The other subplots are OK, with the one about Ross getting high and then blaming Chandler being the best one.
