Fry falls for a mermaid
Tweekums26 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
After accidentally requisitioning a mandatory fishing license the crew head to the middle of the Atlantic; they don't have much luck at first but eventually Bender hooks a huge fish. The fish is so big that it pulls the ship to the bottom of the ocean. While out looking for food Fry meets a mermaid by the name of Umbriel. At first nobody believes him eventually they learn that she is a citizen of the lost city of Atlanta! As the crew complete the necessary repairs to the ship Fry decides he will stay in Atlanta with Umbriel... until he realises that they aren't compatible in bed!

This may have been an Earth based story but its visit to the ocean depths gave it a different enough feel while also gently poking fun at the Delta hub of... I mean City of Atlanta. The opening fishing scenes provided plenty of good laughs and one shock... I could have done without seeing Hermes in his Speedos! All the regular crew members feature and they all provide a few laughs. Guest voice Parker Posey does a decent job as Umbriel; she has some amusing moments; my favourite being when she speaks 'fish' then apologises for her poor accent!

The One With The Mermaids...

Warning: Spoilers
I really love this episode. It's so funny. It's one of my all-time favorite episodes. Not only from this season, but from the entire series.

In this episode, the Planet Express crew go fishing, and a giant fish pulls them underwater. Whilst underneath, they discovered an ancient city, where they have mermaids. Fry develops feelings for a mermaid, called Umbriel, and they even have special nose things that allow them to breath underwater.

Opening Title: A Stern Warning of Things to Come.

Overall, I give this episode a 9 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Amazing.
