While the cat's away, the decorators will play.

George is determined to enjoy his week off, but when his telly breaks down, he has only one option, to watch his neighbour's set. The Fourmiles enjoy a holiday in Scotland and Mildred has the decorators around.

It's a solid episode, it's not one of the best, but it does have some amusing moments, George once again manages to cause chaos wherever he goes.

You know what's coming, of course you do, the scenario is telegraphed a mile off, but it still makes for a good laugh.

It put me in mind of an episode of one foot in the grave, Monday morning will be fine, in which Victor has to cope with no television, poor George desperate to watch Wacky Races.

The decorating scene is pretty funny, it's material we've seen elsewhere, but it still works, it still brings in some laughs.

6/10.

You think Ann Fourmile would know better than to leave the keys with Mildred.

When George's aged television goes on the blink. George goes round to watch the Fourmile's television.

So engrossed is George watching the television. He does not notice that the decorators Mildred has asked to pop round have started to redecorate the Fourmile's house instead of his.

Well to remedy the situation, George and Mildred decide to buy every expensive wallpaper and attempt to put it up themselves.

At least it gives the producers an attempt to copy the famous Bruce Forsyth and Norman Wisdom routine from Sunday Night at the London Palladium.

Looking back at it over 40 years later. It all looks a bit desperate. Maybe the producers should had just stuck to six episodes.
