This show transports me to a more easy going happy era where we laughed with Mildreds comments to George which today would(sadly)be frowned on or even cut out. Yet all our family, Mum Dad Kids sat and chuckled throughout the show.

Happy Happy memories.

The Little Dog Laughed

There are very familiar sitcom ingredients in this episode.

George is put out that Mildred is taking better care of Truffles the dog than him.

There is still a quick quip that Mildred is up for a bit of nookie if George is willing.

George is again not interested. When George takes Truffles for a walk.

She upset a man in the pub by drinking his beer and peeing on his shoe.

Later Truffles runs off while George is inside the pub and so he nips into the pet shop for a replacement dog.

No points for guessing that it will be the wrong sex and Mildred will already have Truffles.

Still it is an amusing episode with some nice comic timing by the cast. Especially by Norman Mitchell as the sarcastic shopkeeper.

Jeffrey Fourmile is exasperated with George and the Ropers only moved in three months ago.

The fear of Mildred.

George reluctantly takes Truffles out for a walk, but instead takes her into a pub, narrowly averting a dust up, George ties Truffles up outside, but she runs off, he's terrified, rightly so of Mildred's reaction.

It always makes me think of my favourite saying from my grandmother, being Welsh I can laugh, 'who tied that dog loose?'

Series one is so original, and generally very funny, this is another fine episode, plenty of moments to laugh at, including George wandering into the toilets, however it's George's terror of his wife that's so enjoyable.

Normal Mitchell is very funny as the pet shop owner, wonderfully rude and sarcastic, of course his humour went way over the head of poor George.

I thought the woman on the park bench was familiar, turns out it's Bella Emberg, Russ Abbott fans will definitely know her.

8/10.
