- Sally evacuates the garden when it's found the barrels contain a toxic cleaning chemical called technocloroethelyne, or "perc", someone illegally dumped rather than dispose of properly. Ghostwriter manages to reveal a bit more writing on another barrel first. After many failed phone calls, the team contact the Environmental Protection Department, but they won't be able to remove the barrels for several months since they need to make sure no other site is worse first. The alternative is to catch the dumper since that person must by law remove them, but they need to learn who it is. Gaby worries her life is in danger since the rabbits' ended, so Alex tries to find out the chemical's effects. This time, Tina is missing out on the investigation after her brother Tuan gets into an argument with their parents about skipping school to focus on his music, and Tina (and her sister) are confined to home too since her parents say she's been helping them too little. The Ghostwriter Team decide to approach local activist Fanny Mae Banner, who hosts a show exposing crooked actions - but they first must prove the perc case is an actual scandal. Lenni's dad and Sally seem to be falling in love. Gaby finds the warning sign put up to keep people out of the garden is ineffective since kids don't get it. The team learn the barrels came from Eco-Safe Chemical Co., but the company says the buyer must've dumped it. Thanks to Ghostwriter's letters, they're able to trace it to French Garment Cleaners. Momo works there, but when Rob and Lenni approach him he seems nervous and is reluctant to say if he knows who the hauler responsible for taking and dealing with their perc is.—brainybrailler@comcast.net
- When the kids tell Sally (Caroline Lagerfelt) about the poison barrel buried in the community garden, she with other volunteers go there to try to unbury them, but end up discovering more than just one barrel and decides to shutdown the garden until the City Hall provides the proper toxic waste disposal service. Of course the kids decided to help, so Rob (Todd Alexander) goes through a number of phone calls until finally gets a positive answer from Officer Cole (Orlagh Cassidy) of the department responsible. In this meantime, Lenni (Blaze Berdahl) is getting jealous about the growing relationship between Sally and her father, Max (Richard Cox). Gaby (Mayteana Morales) still recovering from the poisoning episode and gets sad when discovers the rabbits died from the same thing. Tina's (Tram-Anh Tran) father (Richard Eng) is angry with her big brother, Tuan (Welly Yang), who's getting late in home and missing classes because of his band. And Alex (David López), concerned his sister could die suddenly, gets relieved when Gaby's doctor, Dr. Singhla (Madhur Jaffrey), says there's no trace of the poison in Gaby's body. Officer Cole goes to the park to remove the barrels but tells the park must be closed for quite some time while they investigate the extension of the damage as well deal with the bureaucracy. Back to Lenni's home, while watching TV, the team has the idea of bringing the news reporter Fannie Mae (Melinda Mullins) to cover the story, but the TV channel says she would only do it in case of a scandal, which gives them just another reason to investigate. Looking through their annotations from the writings in the barrels, they find part of a name and with the help of a phonebook - again - they get the address of the most probable company. The manager explains to Lenni and Rob that the name of their company not necessarily represents the barrels belong to them but with the lot numbers he could check the destination of the poison. Later, Lenni gets a mysterious call telling her to go meet in a certain place if she really wants information about the company that supposedly is not doing the proper disposal of their toxic waste.—Wayback Machine TV, from YouTube
- The kids find out it will take at least six months until the government can move the barrels of toxic waste out of the garden. They're disappointed until they notice Fanny Mae Banner's show at Lenni's house. She's a well-known journalist who catches wrongdoers live on television. They want her to humiliate the person who dumped the barrels in front of a whole audience but Banner only handles scandals and other hot topics. The team decides to find the culprit themselves and force that person to remove the barrels as soon as possible. Gaby hears that the rabbits in the garden died and gets scared. Alex reads up on technocloroethelyne (also known as perc) and its hazardous effects but the doctor assures him that his sister hasn't been exposed for long and there's no trace of perc in her body. As long as people stay out of the garden, they will be safe. Meanwhile, Tuan, Tina's older brother, gets into a fight with his father because he's been ditching school for band practice so all of the siblings are grounded. Rob and Lenni visit Eco-Safe, the company that made the barrels of perc. A director says they sell chemicals to various businesses but Eco-Safe didn't dump the barrels in the garden. Whoever did so was doing something illegal instead of recycling them or sending them to a landfill. Rob has a list of identification numbers from the barrels that Ghostwriter picked up. Eco-Safe tracks the numbers to the business that bought the perc: French Garment Cleaners. They go there and run into Momo, who works at the place. The kids ask him what his boss does with perc and he explains that a hauler comes to pick it up when they're done. But before he can explain who it is, he runs off.—Erosegem
