Kurt Russell should someday write a book as a labor of love, all about his early years in Hollywood. He truly grew up on tv. This is one actor who was witness to a lot of small screen history, also in some classic tv toy commercials, if you ever get a chance to see them re-issued.
Kurt plays a very young Tarzan of sorts --who just appears out of nowhere on the island. Amazing how so many people (big or small) just happened to be there in the first place, and in a location so remote in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The Jungle Boy miraculously shows everybody a hidden pocket of helium, thus presenting the opportunity to construct a balloon! Why not?
Ingeniously, the guys weave together their old raincoats to make the balloon. Creative writing 101, though how many of the castaways were wearing or carrying raincoats with them in the first place? Don't ya' love this?
Interestingly... Kurt somehow get clothes??? -- and he looks like his old self as a kid. The castaways put him into the balloon (since he's the smallest) and away he sails to civilization. Not to forget the priceless long white radio, where everybody listens to news updates, good, bad or indifferent. What a way of life!
A sitcom with a GIANT imagination, and why we love it. From SEASON 1 remastered color. 6 dvd box set. Released 2011. Great color photo of our heroes on the front cover.
