One of the Best Golden Girls episodes!
colorsflashing21 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
"The Golden Girls" has always been one of my favorite TV series. This episode is one of the best. "Libertine Belle" is a reference to Blanche, a very sexually active Southern woman, who is accused of a real murder at a Murder Mystery weekend. She invites Dorothy, Rose and Sophia to accompany her to the event, sponsored by The Maltese Falcon Club and attended by the staff of the museum where she works. It is a dressy event at a hotel with lots of atmosphere. Being an avid reader of mysteries, Dorothy is especially excited to be there, and in a flawlessly written scene, solves the game murder. Unfortunately for Blanche, the museum director she is intent on seducing turns up in her bed with a knife in his chest, and she is accused of killing him! Dorothy winds up solving that crime too. Sophia and Rose have very funny lines throughout the episode. The writing, the acting, the plot and the pacing of this episode are all flawless. And there is the added bonus of Tony Plana, cast as a police detective.

The Case of the Libertine Belle (#7.2)

Warning: Spoilers
Blanche and the rest of the girls are going for a Murder Mystery weekend. After the lunch where Dorothy solves the murder, Blanche goes to the hotel room of her coworker and finds him with a steak knife in his chest. She is the prime suspect as she is the one who was in the room, but turns out that it was all fun of the event as well and Dorothy solves it again.

A pretty fun episode, such episodes always make me want to go and attend one of those mystery events.

Loved the scene of Dorothy with a knife on Sophia's neck and it was pretty twisted and fun.

This is one of my favourite episodes of the entire show. Sophia is a b,ast, Blanche gets some well-deserved comeuppance, and it's set outside it eh usual house. Just pure fun and joy.

Two murders for the price of one weekend.

Warning: Spoilers
When the girls take a Blanche's off of going to a murder mystery weekend, they find themselves involved in intrigue involving Blanchard's job and a desired promotion. Dorothy solves the first staged murder quite easily, but a second murder, seemingly real, seems a bit too real. Bea Arthur actually seems to be chuckling at her own dialogue at one moment which makes that scene really charming. There's also some very fun snarky dialogue between Dorothy and Sophia that utilizes some fun tension. A few visual moments are a bit confusing, particularly how Blanche's boss, Kendall, suddenly appears dead on her bed. Still, there's a lot of intelligent writing in this episode which makes it a lot of fun. Rose's dumb comments which makes everybody realizes where she is from is all so amusing, although it's obvious that Blanche set that gag up.
