When Maude met Barney Miller.

Warning: Spoilers
Sophia's extra mean in this episode where she tries to get Blanche off her diet simply for some giggles, constantly mentioning sweets and at one point placing an uneaten eclair in front of her. She's also revealed to have been mean in the past, having been responsible for Dorothy's high school prom date, Hal Linden, standing her up. "Somebody's gonna get it", Rose proclaims, knowing that Sophia's in big, big trouble. It isn't what she did that makes Dorothy mad. It's the fact that she didn't tell Dorothy the truth. Linden, still stunning to look at years after his hit 70's sitcom, is just one of many veterans sitcom stars to make a guest appearance on 'Golden Girls", and certainly one of the best. That's Sid Melton (aka Sophia's late husband) as the "fool" waiter, very funny, along with the singer who does a middle ages version of the "Gilligan's Island" theme. Blanche's attempt to diet so she can fit into her wedding dress has a very funny outcome, all covered by Rose's camera. There are a few little discrepancies concerning Dorothy's earlier talks about her prom night, having mentioned that she got pregnant, but failing to mention Linden's character. Still very good, making me wish that Linden had appeared again.

What a Difference a Date Makes (#6.22)

Warning: Spoilers
Dorothy gets a call from a guy who went to her high school. He invited her to prom but stood her up. After she lost her self esteem, went out with Stan and got pregnant from him. When she mentions it at the diner he says that he did show up but Sophia sent him home because of how he was dressed.

A fun story. Although I don't really like how it ended and think they supported shallowness and caring more about clothes than personality in it and it is supposed to be hat made him "grow up". Please, what a nonsense, but then again it is the beginning of 90's. but hope Sophia doesn't forget it is her fault Dorothy ended up with Stan Still funny
