Only a few episodes past her husband's death, Florida goes out to a dance bar with Willona and winds up having a great time. It was nice to see her so happy when she returned home, but her treatment towards her worried children was pretty horrible.
She's out until the wee hours of the morning and the kids all stay up wondering if she's ok and rightfully concerned for her. She never bothered to pick up a phone and let them know she's fine and will be home a little late to ease their minds.
Now if this were one of the kids, Florida would have been nuts with worry, so why shouldn't Florida realize that she caused them worry and understand where her kids were coming from? It was so ignorant and careless of her. It was funny when J. J. laid into her and went so far as to ground her. Ha!
When they all let her know how upset and concerned they were for her, she just waves them all away and tells them to get to bed, but they shouldn't have let it go and sat her down for a little talk to let her know that respect is a two way street and just because she's the parent doesn't give her the right to be irresponsible and cause the people she lives with all that needless worry.
Had she just apologized and said she got caught up in the evening and realized she made them worry, that would have been ok and I wish the writers have done that, but Florida just flutters around the apartment singing to herself "I could have danced all night!!" without a care in the world that her kids spent the past few hours with worry for her. It's not right and also surprisingly out of character of her because Florida has always been shown to be a very responsible person who's respectful of other people's feelings.
