In a running gag, Lisa and Oliver tell yet another version of how they spent their honeymoon.
Oliver takes a beating: Lisa's father slams the door on his nose, Lisa drops luggage on him from a window, the butler repeatedly hits him with the kitchen door, and Kimball hits him in the head with a hammer.
Assuming the Douglas party occurs shortly after they married in 1955, the $800 dress, adjusted for inflation, would have cost approximately $9,200 in the year 2023.
Mr. Haney is perhaps being tongue in cheek when he suggests Mickey Rooney played a role in the movie Tall in the Saddle (1944), which starred John Wayne. Mickey Rooney was anything but tall and rather famous for his height, which was 5'2".
In keeping with his character, Mr. Haney errs in claiming Adolphe Menjou, an actor who appeared in over 150 titles in both silent and talking pictures, and Freddie Bartholomew, a famous child actor of the 1930s and '40s, played the role of Milton Sills alternately as adult and child, respectively. Mr. Sills was an actor himself and was never portrayed by anyone in movies.
