Starting off watching a series knowing nothing about the book on which it is biased and only as much about the series premis as can be gleaned from the promotional poster, is a mixed bag. Expectations are low and there is no source material with which to compare it, so characters and motivations all get the benefit of the doubt while the show can be unfairly compared to well-known and successful series of a similar genre. The result was quirky and based in the reality of the human experience, even if plot twists were the stuff that television and movies are made of. While not as polished and as other British mystery series (and the supporting cast still has a long way to go to prove memorable), it was overall enjoyable and full of promise for future episodes. Side note of advice: Keep your closed captioning "on" unless you are highly skilled at listening with a Scottish Brogue...
