Warning: Spoilers
Brian Keith stars as Judge Milton C. Hardcastle, and I remember watching a few episodes of Hardcastle and McCormick when it when it debuted back in 1983. It's hard to believe Hardcastle and McCormick debuted over 40 years ago, yes four decades ago, wow.

I remember in this episode Judge Hardcastle admonishing a police officer for trying to read the Miranda rights from memory, so he pulled out the card with the wording for the officer to read, giving the impression that if Miranda rights aren't read word for word, then the accused can get off on a "technicality".

Anyway, this was the first of 200 files for the Judge to fix up.

Rolling Thunder: Part 1

Hardcastle and McCormick is very much a little seen action series from the mid 1980s. One of the many from the Stephen J Cannell stables which had a soft rock theme.

It is probably best remembered for the fast sports car called Coyote X.

The premise of the show is Milton Hardcastle (Brian Keith) is a no nonsense judge on the verge of retirement. Mark McCormick (Daniel-Hugh Kelly) is an ex race driver and car thief who has done time.

Now out on parole. Hardcastle wants McCormick to catch baddies who got off on a technicality.

The opening episode has them reluctantly teaming up. McCormick has suspicions that his mentor Flip Johnson has been murdered. He designed a prototype sports car, the Coyote X that McCormick was meant to race.

Now after his death, Flip's business partner Martin Cody (John Saxon) owns everything including the car.

This first part of the two parter concentrates on the abrasive relationship between the two men. It just holds up the action.
