Green Acres Is the Place to Be.

This episode was out there, man. a) Eva Gabor plays a bride the 7th time over, wearing white -- AND A VEIL! b) The guy playing her groom is much younger than her; one of them is terribly miscast. He drops dead rather quickly, hence our story for the evening. c) Keene Curtis makes a second guest appearance in a completely different bad guy role from his first bad guy role ("Homemade Murder"). Fun! d) Half the guests look like Hare Krishnas, only with their hair. e) Apparently, my wedding reception violated some significant etiquette laws. Everybody knows that the groom gets the first piece of cake! Note to my husband: Sorry, Honey. f) I believe Freeway gets some. With a cat. I had a way better line for this, but i didn't want to risk it with the mods (see? I'm a good girl) g) The styles are changing, and I'm disappointed to see Jennifer in either trendy boxy 80's-wear, or boring stuff, and her hair is just not its fluffy self. Not to mention, Jonathan's tie is tow inches too short; something Jonathan would never do. What up, people?! Oh well. g) William Windom & John Fiedler guest! And they rock the house. h) The hijinx at the end punctuated by the goofball music is certainly entertaining. But honestly, all I could really think about was that I was waiting for Eddie Albert to show up with his pitchfork and drag Eva back to the right show.

Entertaining, nonetheless.

Seventh time lucky?
coltras3523 September 2023
The Harts host Jennifer's Aunt's latest nuptials (Eva Gabor), but the occasion is crashed by ex-husband William Windom - and later as Jennifer (Stephanie Powers) and Jonathan witness the groom dropping dead after eating the poisoned cake.

A light frothy addition to the show that is quite tongue in cheek especially towards Eve Gabor's character - she livens up the proceedings and is quite funny. This marriage is her seventh one but the seventh gets bumped off. Of course, this reflects on Eva's sister zsa Zsa Gabor's marital history, who was married seven times. Eva was married five times. The finale was quite comical, which fitted the air of this episode.

Trip back in time

Watching Eva play Jennifer's beloved aunt made me think of I dream of Genie. It takes you back to 1960's shows in style and in dialogue. I think it was written for her rather than the usual cast. It was good though and it had the wacky sort of humour that belonged to the 60's too. Although the vaseline was obviously over the lens on Eva she still looks exactly the same as she did decades earlier. She must be one of the best when it come to earlier plastic surgery. I thnk some of the people now could do with taking a leaf out of her book. Anyway it wasn't your average Hart to Hart, something different but I felt relief when it went back to the 80's next episode. It's fun it's great to switch off to but don't mess with the magic formula.

Eva Gabor & William Windom make a great team!

I loved the cast for this one, especially the skillful acting of Eva Gabor and William Windom. They both gave the episode a great comedic touch. I enjoyed Eva's short-lived grief and her quick reversion to the wine-drinking, meat-eating woman she was before she met her newly married, newly deceased crook of a husband. And Windom played someone fairly different from his usual roles - generally an upstanding businessman type, even if sometimes he turned out to be the bad guy. But here, he was kind of a clumsy, bumbling, fool in love, who was not always the most astute.

Then there was the always reliable John Fiedler, who explained the interesting concept of a "Hollow Tree" bank account. Granted, the finale was quite silly, but Hart to Hart can get away with this type of nonsense when it's done in such an amusing way!

With This Hart, I Thee Wed

Eva Gabor stars as Jennifer's much married aunt Renee. She is getting married again to someone who is a member of some sinister eastern religious cult.

The Harts are hosting the wedding. Renee's ex husband has drunkenly crashed the wedding and gives the marriage just 6 minutes.

The groom dies soon after, poisoned by the wedding cake. A rare first edition of the book holds a lot of interest and people are after it.

This is a more lighthearted escapade. The final action scenes turn into a circus.

Eve Gabor looks very smooth. Robert Wagner looks more porkier.

Jonathan still seems to blunder into unnecessary danger. Sometimes he should just look behind him.

I did think the formula is wearing thin by the fourth series.
