THE DEADLY CLOAK CAPER.
Neat little mystery, set at the ominous home of a wealthy gentleman, Ames Caldwell (Tris Coffin), who has come into possession of the scared Hawiian cloak of Kamehameha. With it comes certain death... or so Ames is lead to believe.
Tom keeps in touch with Tracy by phone -- until the wires are cut! ...OMG... Suddenly, strange things begin to happen around Caldwell's house, including the old man being confined to his bed. The big question; who is behind the scares and WHY? Fun stuff AND a cool underwater scuba fight. Robert Conrad again proves he's the two-fisted champ.
Excellent script by Dwight V. Babcock, long in tv adventures; SGT. PRESTON AND JUNGLE JIM.
In fact, this may have been an outline for a story from the latter series, it has that tropical adventure feel. Good direction from William Hole, Jr, veteran director at Warner Brothers/ABC tv, later behind PEYTON PLACE.
Tris Coffin, a favorite in camp and cult films, is right at home with this material, co-starring Kathleen Crowley as May Caldwell. Familiar heavy Paul Picerni has an excellent supporting role as Lonakila. Pretty Susan Crane plays Pauline and Wendell Holmes in an offbeat part, playing Dr. Moses Good? A little overacting by Holmes, but why we love it.
Applause to the wardrobe department for coming up with the Kamehameha costume and head gear. Only debit -- NOT in color!
SEASON 1 EPISODE 15 remastered WB dvd box set. Some sets contain full seasons, or separate episodes. Thanks much to METV Plus for running this super show twice on Sunday nights.
