Hercules and Iolaus set out when they hear of warlord Gorgus's rapacious activity, only to find, startled, his stepdaughter Rena is actually engaged to Hercules's wayward sibling Iphicles, who passes himself off as his divine half-brother. Iphicles is furious when Hercules refuses to play along, but the hero has greater and more urgent worries when the warlord's right-hand Pallaeus fields the mandrake-prepared 'box of death', which Hera devised as a diabolic, multiple trap.
