Is a lothario just there to take money off women looking for romance, or is he guilty of something more sinister, murder.
This is one of the best, it's perhaps not the best mystery of all,but the story and characters are all first class, as are the performances, Ronald Pickup is terrific as the suave but dubious Lester Rose, one of the show's best performances, and although Joan Sims has a small part she is a delight.
Loaded with Northern charm, efforts were made to make this authentically Northern with the brass band music, and trips to wonderful Southport.
The story is excellent, Routledge and Pickup share some terrific scenes, and we get to see Hetty placed in danger.
