Good surprise by the writers as to who was behind the plot to kill Amanda. Great acting by Peter Wingfield. Loved the team-up & take-down with Amanda, Duncan, and Methos.

Warning: Spoilers
A group of mortals attack Amanda in the middle of the night trying to kill her with a sword. She gets away and heads to Duncan's place. Methos is researching the crystals that Luther had. The Watchers are in possession of Luther's crystals. The only missing piece is Amanda's. Amanda and Duncan later realize they're after the crystals. Amanda thinks it's Methos. Duncan thinks it's The Watchers but isn't too sure about that either.

Good surprise having it turn out to be Amanda's watcher, Dan, who was behind the whole thing. I remember the first time watching this years ago being surprised it was him. They did a good job making it look like it was Nathan Stern, Methos' new boss at Watcher HQ. This is what should have been done back in season 2 'Counterfeit I.' I wrote in my review of that episode that they shouldn't have shown everything to the audience about Pete.

Anyone else think Dan was bullied as a child?

I know Methos looked suspicious, but Amanda should have remembered how they all teamed up to help Duncan in the 'Finale I' and 'II' episodes. Duncan, how could you even ask Methos if he were the one trying to kill Amanda? Methos looked so hurt by the question. He literally saved you in 'Deliverance.' IF Methos had gotten the crystals, pretty sure he would just have politely ask Amanda for hers. Not try and kill her in order to get it.

Great job by Peter Wingfield, as Methos tries to get through to Amanda:

"Now she is lying in a hospital in Switzerland breathing through a tube. You think it takes courage to do what we do? Face another immortal with a sword, knowing only one of you will live? You try being her! You try living one year knowing that your time is running out. Knowing that when it comes to the final fight, however much you train, whatever tricks you have, you still lose! That's the way it is for them. So little time for them to see anything or do anything."

I enjoyed Methos and Amanda teaming up later to get the crystals. Loved the humor they added with the cat.

In Amanda's flashback, they show Rebecca encouraging her to stand her ground in order to fight another immortal. What was the point of this? The writers wrote Amanda and all the female immortals as not good fighters, or that Duncan had to fight for them. The fight with Luther should have been completed and won by Amanda. It would have been so poetic in that episode. But no, they gave it to Duncan. So they did the flashback, and Amanda promptly loses in her fight with Methos. So what was the point? That she took Dan later out with the machine gun? Uh boy.

Loved the team-up and take-down at the end with Amanda, Duncan, and Methos. Loved seeing them work together. I gave this episode an 8/10

Was the stone for real or not?

Warning: Spoilers
1. Here we see immortals and mortals (watchers) trying to get their hands on the Methuselah Stone and each for their own reasons. Does the stone really have the power make a mortal immortal? Does it have any kind of healing power at all? Well, once all the pieces were put together, the stone transforms into a perfect and beautiful round gem. Sadly the gem ends up at the bottom of a river. Time is up for Methos as his love Alexa is near death. I can however visualize Amanda returning later with scuba gear to search for the gem. 2. Notice that in this episode we see Amanda sporting her platinum colored hair for the first time. I'm guessing that this was the look prefered by actress Elizabeth Gracen as we see this look on her again in the series and then all throughout the spin off single season of Highlander the Raven.

Just kill her already
tsuthers-091689 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The writing this season has been horrible. Since it is so bad anyway why cannot they just kill her and be done with it? She is so selfish and has always been, even when she has someone take her in she plans to steal from them.

When she first sees it, it is round and glowed, yet is told that each time a student leaves takes a piece with them, so how is it whole? In the episode where we first learn about Rebecca teaching amanda she was not the first nor the last student.

This is another example of a plot hole that is not answered.

I can only hope that these gaps are closed at some point along with a few other questions about where/why they are around and when/how the watchers were started.
