Kind of a sad episode, but a good story and conflicting emotions. Kagan needs to be stopped but I felt kinda sorry for him. Seeing how Kagan was made was really interesting.

Maurice's niece, Simone, is with an immortal boyfriend, Lucas Kagan. They steal a valuable painting, he kills two men tho he feigns to Simone that they were going to kill him. Duncan tries to get the painting back and encounters Kagan. They know each other from the past when Kagan and his partner, immortal Tarsis, robbed a bank hurting people and killing a person. Duncan killed Tarsis at that time. Kagan plays games with Duncan acting like killing the two men was self-defense. Duncan demands he stay away from Simone. Simone has serious issues from her life growing up. Kagan also has issues. We see how he became who he was in flashbacks.

Bad dubbing for the actress that played Simone. It was a whispery sounding, I guess trying to sound sultry or something. She only had basically one expression throughout the episode so the bad dubbing didn't help.

Kagan was an interesting story, wasn't he? Cool idea that the main flashback was about Kagan rather than Duncan. I feel kinda sorry for Kagan. He's right, Tarsis did make him who he was. However, Tarsis died 65 years earlier and that is a lot of time that Kagan was free from his influence where he could have changed.

Kagan: "It's not my fault. He made me what I am." The very fact that he recognizes this about himself means he has looked inside himself to try and figure out how he ended up on this path. He seemed damaged to me. Maybe even self-destructive. Let's face it, he could have left town right after he killed Simone that night, but chose to wait until morning which gave Duncan enough time to find him. Who knows what went on between him and Tarsis. There was definitely emotional abuse. But was there something more? I had the feeling there was.

Simone's story was kinda heavy, wasn't it? It didn't seem believable to me that she would confide in a complete stranger, Duncan, especially that quickly. She was damaged too and I think self-destructive. I felt sorry for her. I felt bad for Maurice when he found her dead.

Why did Duncan seem so nervous around the hookers? In flashbacks in other episodes, I'm pretty sure some of those women he parties with are hookers. Young Duncan was so much fun wasn't he?

I guess we have to overlook that Duncan and Kagan fought in broad daylight with people not far away. I think that's a school playground with kids in the background. Oh well.

What else could Duncan have done? It's like killing a monster that was created by another monster. If he let Kagan get away he would have continued killing, perhaps one day finding another "young Kagan" that he would abuse and influence and the cycle would start all over again. This was just kind of a sad episode. But it was also a good story that has you feeling conflicting emotions. I gave it an 8/10.
