- A German truck carrying an experimental jet fuel is the latest target for Hogan and his men. But when all efforts to sabotage the shipment fail, Carter gets down to business with the remaining weaponry at hand - a bow and arrow.
- At the start, Hogan, Newkirk, Carter, Kinchloe, and LeBeau are dressed up in black with blacked-out faces at night watching a road. They see another Gestapo patrol going by. They talk about a truck with rocket fuel that will be going by. Hogan says that the scientist who has the formula is riding with the truck. Newkirk and Carter plant dynamite under the bridge over the Dusseldorf River. The vehicle carrying the fuel is a 1 1/2 ton truck so carter is setting the charge so only this type of truck will trigger it. Carter also wants to set the charge for a certain time, but forgot his watch, so he asks Hogan for the time.
The next morning, Schultz comes to the barracks for mail call. Hansen and Saunders are two prisoners who he gives mail to, among others. Carter gets mail for 'Little Deer Who Goes Swift and Sure Through Forest'. He says that that is a letter from a cousin in North Dakota, his home state. Carter says that he is part Sioux Indian, that his grandfather knew Sitting Bull. Newkirk asks Carter what the letter says, and Carter starts reading it supposedly in Sioux language.
Klink calls Hogan to his office, and tells him to prepare the barracks for 12 new prisoners. They will be leaving Weisbaden, and crossing the Hammelburg Bridge over the Dusseldorf River (where the charges to destroy the rocket fuel truck are placed). Knowing that this is where they planted the charges for the rocket fuel truck, Hogan tries to convince Klink to send the prisoners somewhere else, so Klink calls General Burkhalter asking that the prisoners go elsewhere. Burkhalter, less than politely, says no, and Klink asks for 40 more; Burkhalter says that he will get only these 12. Hogan asks Hilda what type of truck the new prisoners will be coming in, and she replies a 1 1/2 ton truck. Hogan starts to look worried.
In the barracks, Carter is carving a bow and arrow, and talks with the other prisoners about his Sioux heritage. Hogan comes back, and tells them briefly what is going on. Hogan says that the truck with prisoners has to be delayed; this is a job for a 'little old lady', and he volunteers Newkirk for this; this is going to be risky and will be in broad daylight. Next, Newkirk is seen in the little old lady costume crossing the bridge, not being stopped by the sentry, who does not suspect anything. He managed to stop the truck carrying the prisoners, and asks the sergeant commanding the truck for a ride. The sergeant refuses, and starts arguing. Newkirk wants to prolong the argument a bit, so he mentions a grand-daughter, who works as a fan dancer. The sergeant sort of gets interested. Just then, another truck passes the stopped truck; seconds later, it crosses the bridge and a big explosion is heard. The truck with the prisoners leave, and Newkirk says to forget the ride, military trucks are too dangerous.
Later, the men are celebrating in the barracks with wine. Schultz comes to the barracks, and tells the men that they are confined to the barracks because of sabotage in the area. Schultz also asks Carter to write home, and ask to send him an Indian outfit. Schultz leaves. Just then, Kinch comes out of the tunnel with a message saying that they blew up the wrong truck; the one that they blew up was carrying their Red Cross packages. The rocket fuel truck was re-routed on a route that will take it right by STALAG 13. Hogan starts contemplating on how they are going to destroy the truck now. He tells LeBeau to put the wine away, and let it age a few more hours. Carter accidentally shoots an arrow from the bow that he has carved, and just misses Hogan. Hogan gets a thought; he asks Carter how far he can shoot it. Hogan then opens the window and asks Kinch how far it is to the road; Kinch says that he threw a football 50 yards from the fence to the barracks. Hogan estimates 60 yards from the barracks to the road. Carter says that he can shoot it that far easily. Hogan seems to think that a flaming arrow into the truck would do the trick. Kinch does some quick calculations, and says how far ahead of the truck you need to shoot. (He mentions that trucks are limited to 35 miles per hour, and estimates the square footage of the canvas on the truck.) Hogan tells Newkirk to take Carter down in to the tunnel to practice shooting arrows, and tells LeBeau to make some material for a flaming arrow.
Later, Schultz calls for a roll call, and assembles the men out front. Schultz asks where Hogan, Newkirk, and 'Little Deer Who Goes Swift and Sure Through Forest' are. The truck goes by, Hogan opens the barracks window, Newkirk lights the flaming arrow, and Carter shoots the arrow at the truck. And hits the window sill. Newkirk pulls the flaming arrow out of the window sill, shoots it, and hits the canvas on the back of the truck. He says that he was related to Robin Hood. The canvas on the truck catches fire, and is heavily involved when it drives by the gate. Klink starts to tell the men about an experimental jet fuel in a truck just now passing by the camp; just before it explodes. The scientist was in the truck as it explodes, so they lost him and the formula as well.
At the end, Hogan and Schultz are in Klink's outer office. Schultz tells Hogan that Klink is mad at him. Hogan gives Schultz an Indian headband with one feather that he says Carter got from his cousin. He gave Schultz an Indian name of 'Big Chief Running Bear Who Goes Swift and Sure to Beer Garden', and Schultz puts the headband on. Just then, Klink comes out and says 'Or Big Fat Schultz Who Goes Swift and Sure to the Russian Front', and takes the headband. Schultz complains to Hogan that Klink took his feather. Schultz asks Hogan what he should no now, and Hogan replies that they should scalp him, but somebody had beat them to it (referring to Klink's bald spot). In his office, alone, Klink tries on the headband and looks himself in the mirror. Hogan interrupts him, and Klink looks embarrassed.
