One of the pictures tacked to the heroes' barracks wall is of Bill Mauldin's wartime soldier cartoon character, "Willie" of "Up Front" cut from the cover of TIME, 18 June 1945.
Sgt Carter ( Larry Hovis ) says he used to make snowmen back home in the town of Bullfrog, North Dakota, which he says is a suburb of Crabapple Junction. Both towns are fictional.
This is one of Noam Pitlik's guest appearances. His first one was in the series premiere, as a planted German agent. Here, he plays an American flyer.
The opening credits in this episode do not end with the normal night scene of the main gate with the guards and dogs. It cuts to the establishing daytime shot of the main gate during the blizzard.
