Bruce Yarnell plays Captain Winslow, a pilot, who was shot down by the Germans. In real life he was also a pilot and died in a plane crash in 1973.
This is the first show that separated Werner Klemperer and John Banner in the closing credits. Until this show they were listed together.
Ironically and tragically, at 37 years old, guest star Bruce Yarnell was at the controls of his small-craft private plane when it crashed into the Santa Monica Mountains shortly after taking off from LAX. He was on his way to perform at the San Francisco Opera Company. Both Bruce and two passengers, David and Teri Wirsching, were killed.
The title comes from the Peanuts comic strip book "Happiness is a Warm Puppy".
In one scene, Carter can be seen washing socks. Usually Larry Hovis wore gloves to hide his wedding ring, but as he lifts the socks out of the bucket, his wedding ring can be clearly seen.
