The shot of the lodge Col Klink is to stay at is actually of Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood, Oregon. The exterior of this lodge also served as the exterior of The Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980).
The pen (orange with cap) that Col. Hogan hands to Col. Klink to sign a supply request at the very end of this episode, is the same 'explosive' pen that Carter develops in How to Win Friends and Influence Nazis (1967).
The title comes from the musical 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying' by Frank Loesser.
