Despite being raised by musically talented parents, since his father, Otto Klemperer, was one of the century's greatest conductors and his mother, Johanna Klemperer, was a well-known operatic soprano, Werner Klemperer (Col. Klink) showed little aptitude for music and stated that even though he studied piano and violin, he made "noises a dog shouldn't hear" and decided to pursue an acting career instead.
