An introduction to Colonel Crittendon.
kfo949415 September 2014
This is the first time that we get to see the British bumbling Colonel Crittendon (Bernard Fox) as he will show up from time-to-time during the series run. In this show Crittendon is recruited by Klink in order to lose Hogan as the highest rank officer in the prison camp. But as always, Crittendon messes up the entire operation and comes close to foiling the camp secrets- all in the order of his duty as a prisoner of war.

But the main story involves a Baroness, Lili Von Schlichter (Louise Troy), that is wanting to escape the horror of the Nazi Government much to the chagrin of the people in power. The Gestapo is tracking the Baroness and the only way for her to leave Germany is with the help of Colonel Hogan. But with Crittendon now the ranking officer of the POW's, it will not be an easy task for the men of Stalag 13 to complete.

Bernard Fox is always great as Crittendon as he will, especially in later shows, become more bumbling and outlandish in his deed to carry out his mission to always escape. There is much going on in this episode as the viewer goes from one situation to the other at a rapid pace. But it all ends up as expected and the viewer has been treated to another good show. Good watch.
