- A gas station has just been set up at Stalag 13 and Hogan plans to blow it up.
- The Heroes watch as the German's, with no attempt to hide their activity, set up a gasoline refueling depot at Stalag 13. In order to learn more, Hogan sneaks into town, meeting with an underground contact, Louisa, code named Eskimo. She informs him that this refueling station will speed up convoys resupplying German troops in France, and they have been ordered to destroy the operation which, by its location in a POW camp, is safe from bombing. It will be unreasonable for the underground to accomplish this from outside, therefor the Heroes must do it from inside. During a roll-call the next day, Colonel Klink informs the prisoners that requests to have fuel drums relocated from the POW occupied hut 12 are denied and, with glee, further denies moving those prisoners to safer barracks, thereby ensuring that there will be no sabotage attempts. Hogan cleverly devises a workable plan.—Harry Tumilson
- At the start, German soldiers are seen rolling fuel drums off of a truck and putting them into a building; Carter is watching them unloading. Hogan, Newkirk, Kinchloe, and LeBeau are looking out the fence at an object being set up there. Hogan says that the object is a gas pump. Carter then comes up and says that it is a gas pump; Hogan says 'Very good Carter'. Schultz comes up to them, and tries to get the men to move away from the fence. Hogan says that Schultz does not know anything; after talking but saying nothing, Schultz says that it is a refueling station to be used for refueling trucks heading for France. Hogan goes to Klink's office, complaining that the gas being in the prisoner of war camp is a violation of the Geneva Convention. Klink says that in his army, they don't complain, they obey orders. Hogan tells Klink that they are making him a commandant of a gas station. He refers to 'Klink's Gas Station' and says to put 28 in the front and 30 in the back (referring to putting air in the tires). Klink says something; Hogan acts mad and leaves. The phone rings. Klink answers it 'Klink's Gas Station'; he realized what he said, and hangs up frustrated.
At night, the radio antenna in the flagpole goes up, and Kinch gets a message. The Underground knows about convoys. Hogan, Carter, LeBeau, and 2 unidentified prisoners are in the barracks. Hogan is to meet with an Underground agent regarding when the first one will show up. Hogan wants to go out to meet the agent, Eskimo. LeBeau says that we have not had a surprise in a long time; Carter asks what if Klink decided to pull a surprise inspection while Hogan is gone. Hogan schemes to have Klink do one first.
The next day, Hogan and the men are outside the barracks; Hogan tells Kinch to get Schultz. A minute later, Kinch says 'One big Kraut coming'. Hogan starts discussing a fake escape, regarding escaping in trash barrels. Hogan gets Schultz to overhear the conversation. After Hogan dismissed the men, Schultz comes up. Hogan suggests to Schultz to have a surprise inspection. Schultz reports what he heard to Klink. Klink asked if Hogan talked them out of the escape in front of Schultz. Klink thinks that they will double-cross him, making him think the escape is off, but is really on, a double-double cross. When Klink mentions 'double-double-cross', Schultz asks 'Like a swastika?' So to prevent a double-double cross, he will double-double-double-cross the prisoners. Klink is going to have a surprise inspection.
Klink and Schultz go to the barracks at night; Hogan objects to the inspection. Hogan comes out in a bathrobe, which as actually covering the suit he is going to town with. Klink asks Hogan if he has a date; Hogan says that it's not a girl, it's an eskimo; 'eskimo' is the code-word name of the agent that Hogan is to meet. The other prisoners laugh. All prisoners are present, so Klink and Schultz leave, the surprise inspection ends.
Hogan goes to the Hoffbrau, meets 2 Underground agents. One says that they spotted him because of a good description that they got. One, the man, gets a beer. The other, a woman (agent Eskimo) says that he is her brother; Hogan is relieved, originally thinking that he is her husband. In case of invasion, the route by STALAG 13 will shorten the route to France. She tells Hogan that the first convoy is next week, and will gas up on the way to France. The agent tells Hogan to blow up the gas. Hogan thinks if they blow up the gas, they will blow up the prisoners because their barracks is right next to where the gas is being stored.
The next morning, Klink addresses the prisoners at roll call. He has heard that there is an objection to having the gas kept in barracks 12. Klink tells Hogan that the men will stay in barracks 12 with the gas. Hogan later tells the men that we can still do the job. Hogan asks Carter to make a model of the camp, including the fence, guard towers, and gas station. If you can't blow up the gas station, you blow up the convoy.
After the model, mostly of wood, is built, Hogan tells the men of the plan. He says that Newkirk is out stealing a German uniform. Carter asks about the tower and searchlight; the light from the tower will be on the pump. Hogan shows the angle on the model with a cigar; he says that the body of the trucks will block the light from the searchlight. The near side of the truck will be illuminated, the far side will be dark; the men will operate from the far side. Carter asks how many trucks will be in the first convoy; Hogan says that the enemy does not tell him everything. Hogan has Kinch ask the Underground for dynamite, and Newkirk is to go to the Hoffbrau to pick it up.
Newkirk goes to the Hauserhof dressed as an old woman to pick up supplies from the Underground. He is carrying a suitcase that he sets down next to another suitcase. He sits down next to the agent Eskimo, and orders a drink. He says that the drink is strong and starts coughing. He then leaves, taking the suitcase that was next to the one he set down, pushing his next to the wall.
Later, Hogan gets a message that the convoy is passing Flensheim, 2 hours from STALAG 13 at 25 miles per hour. There are 22 trucks and 1 command car. Captain Streicker is the commander of the convoy. Carter asks why they can't buy gas at a regular station. Klink gets a phone call from the convoy commander that they are two hours away. Klink tells Schultz to double the guard before the convoy arrives.
Newkirk is in German uniform on the far side of the trucks. Streicker comes up in his command car, and directs the first truck to the pump. One soldier starts to pump gas while another opens up the hood of the truck to do something there. Carter and Kinch run from the bushes, and plant charges under the first truck when it stops, then run back to the bushes, Newkirk (in German uniform) watching for trouble. Klink comes to the far side, talks to Newkirk. Because it is dark, he does not recognize Newkirk, who talks in a German accent. He asks Newkirk who posted him there; Newkirk replies that the convoy commander did, without naming him. Klink thinks that was an excellent idea, and leaves. Then Captain Streicker comes up and asks him the same thing; Newkirk replies that Klink posted him there. Streicker says that no wonder that he is a captain and Klink is a colonel, Klink thinks of everything; and then leaves.
After all of the trucks are serviced, Kinch, Carter, and LeBeau go to the tunnel and radio to Hogan that the charges have been planted. Hogan radios back that the packages are in sight. Just then, trucks start blowing up. Hogan radios back 'Jackpot. All packages untied.' Kinch radios back, but no answer. Hogan is seen kissing Eskimo. After a few calls, Hogan says that Papa Bear is busy and can not be disturbed.
At the end, Klink gets a phone call. He is told that the entire convoy was destroyed 10 miles from camp, it was sabotage. The Gestapo is investigating. There will be no second convoy. Klink tells Hogan that Berlin told him to dismantle the gas station. Hogan tells Klink that he might have been setting up gas stations all over Germany. Hogan says to Klink that the escape committee asked if Klink can give them a deal on 6x16 whitewalls.
