- Klink and Hogan's men together head to the Russian front on a suicide mission to steal some secret documents.
- Marya, the White-Russian spy, returns to Stalag 13 in the company of a senior Gestapo officer, Count von Waffenschmidt, and immediately makes known to all that she is in love with Colonel Klink. She soon sets-up a scheme that results in Hogan and Newkirk being caught trying to steal secrets being carried by the Count. Now locked-up, Hogan devises a complex plan to secure their freedom and provide another opportunity to get at the contents of the courier pouch.—Harry Tumilson
- At the start, Hogan is with the men in the compound. Schultz does roll call. Klink comes out and calls for a report. Just as Schuz tries to give the report, a staff car comes through the gate. Marya, the White Russian, comes to STALAG 13 with Count von Waffenschmidt, a Gestapo general, who has a briefcase attached to his left arm with handcuffs. Hogan wants to listen in, so he goes to his office and plugs the coffee pot listening device in, and starts listening, with Newkirk, Carter, LeBeau, Kinchloe, and 1 unidentified prisoner with him.
In Klink's office, Count von Waffenschmidt says that he is going to the Russian front, and he will take the train tomorrow. Marya calls him 'Waffy'. He looks around Klink's office, and calls the office decor 'early grubby'. Marya gets cozy with Klink, and even kisses him. The Count tells them to conduct their sordid affairs out of his sight. The Count will stay the night in Klink's quarters. Hogan and the others are listening in. Hogan says that Marya knows that the office is bugged, so he is wondering why they are saying what they said; the conversation had to be for their benefit.
That night, Hogan and Newkirk go to Klink's quarters where the Count is sleeping. Newkirk tries to release the lock on the briefcase, still attached to the Count's arm. The Count wakes up (or possibly he was not asleep at all) and points a pistol at Hogan. He tells Hogan and Newkirk that the briefcase is honey, to trap spies. He says that Marya is under surveillance by the Gestapo. He is on a trip with her; if she wants to detour to a certain location, the Count goes along. The Count thinks that Hogan and the others may be spies.
The Count tells Schultz to keep Hogan and Newkirk under close guard until he returns from the Russian Front.
Hogan and Newkirk and locked up in the cooler. Carter and LeBeau come by to see what is going on. Carter wants to put nitroglycerin in the lock and blow it. Hogan thinks that will blow them up also. Hogan has a plan. He tells Carter to get into a German special forces general's uniform. He is to come to STALAG 13 to recruit prisoners into the Wehrmacht. They will be getting on the train with the Count.
The next day, Klink and Schultz are coming out of Klink's office into the compound. Carter, dressed as the German general, is outside on the porch. He catches Klink from behind says that he is General Reifschneider, and braces Klink. He says that he has come to recruit a special suicide squad of prisoners, men who do not have anything to live for. Klink wants to pick the men, but Carter/Reifschneider says that he will pick them himself. Carter/Reifschneider walks away, Klink and Schultz follow. Schultz asks Klink for 4 days off; Klink dismisses the idea. Carter comes up to Kinch and LeBeau standing by a building; he volunteers them. He then goes into the cooler, and volunteers Hogan and Newkirk. Hogan also recommends another prisoner, Carter. Klink tells the prisoners that they have joined the Wehrmacht, and tells Schultz to call the Quartermaster to get them uniforms. Carter/Reifschneider then volunteers Klink to lead the squad.
Later, Klink and Hogan are on a train heading to the Russian front. Hogan is in an army officer's uniform, the other men are in German enlisted uniforms. LeBeau comes to the room on the train and tells them about Marya. Marya comes to Hogan's room, giving LeBeau a big hug on the way. Hogan tells her about the Count setting a trap for her. Marya says that the Russians already have the plans that are in the Count's briefcase and she needs Hogan's help for a larger plan. Hogan says that the operation is to throw the Count off track.
Somehow, the Count is knocked out. Newkirk detaches the briefcase from the Count's arm. Hogan says it has to LOOK LIKE it has been opened. Carter and Klink are in a room as the train stops, then starts going backwards. Kinch and LeBeau are in the booth of the train engine; they apparently knocked out the engineer, and took control of the train. LeBeau stopped the train and put it into reverse; Kinch asks LeBeau of he knows what he is doing. Hogan and Marya are in the Count's room, as the Count wakes up. Hogan points a pistol at the Count, but says that shooting him is too messy. The Count sees that the briefcase has been opened and worries about the plans. He thinks that the Russians will get the plans, and take action against the Germans. He says that the Gestapo will think that he is the ringleader of the spies and will be shot. If he defects, they will take revenge on his wife. Marya asks the Count if he loves his wife that much; the Count says that he will defect.
At the end, still on the train, Klink is still thinking they are headed to the Russian front. He tells Hogan that he has regarded Hogan as a kindred spirit. He tells Hogan that when they meet in the great parade ground in the sky, to just call him Wilhelm. Hogan tells Klink that the mission has been called off. Hogan looks out a window, and says that they are back at STALAG 13; he says that it is good to be home again. He calls Klink 'Wilhelm'. Klink gets tough, and tells Hogan to call him Kommandant Klink.
