- TriviaThe real V2 was over 45 feet tall and about 5 1/2 feet wide, with a range of about 200 miles.
- GoofsThe Russian scientist makes a mistake when he refers to himself as Illyich Igor Zagoskin as his name should be Igor Illyich Zagoskin. While the order of the names may seem trifling, it is considered important by Russians. The Russian custom is to have a given name, followed by a "patronymic", or nickname, formed by taking the father's name and adding a diminutive (something like "itch"). In this case his first name would be Igor, his father's name would have been Ilya, from which the middle name was formed, followed by the family name. Had the show gotten it right his name would have been "Igor Illyich Zagoskin." It is the Russian custom to always address one another, even in a casual context, by the first two or all three names.
- Quotes
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: You will all stay away from that rocket. Did you hear me? What is going on there? Back, back, all of you. Back!
General von Rauscher: Who are you?
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: Major Hochstetter, Herr General, in charge of security here, and you're all much too close to this rocket.
General von Rauscher: My dear Major, there is no danger of it firing...
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: Firing? Who's worried about firing? I'm worried about spying.
General von Rauscher: Are you aware that I am in charge of this project, and that this is the inventor?
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: [Zagoskin hands him his notebook] Until I clear you, you will please stop inventing.
[points at Marya]
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: Who is that woman?
General von Rauscher: She is my interpreter, Hochstetter.
Col. Wilhelm Klink: Yes, Major Hochstetter. And I believe a full corporal.
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: What is this bungler doing here?
General von Rauscher: Responsible for the security of our witness.
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: *I am responsible for security here!* What witness?
Col. Robert E. Hogan: Hi there.
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: What is this man doing here?
General von Rauscher: Hochstetter, I am in charge of this project. And I am operating *under direct authority of the German General Staff*.
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: Traitors, all of them. What is this man doing here?
General von Rauscher: I *am in charge of security*...
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: *What is this man doing here?*
General von Rauscher: He is our witness.
Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter: Witness? You have chosen the most dangerous man in all of Germany as a witness. The Gestapo is taking over. I will surround this camp with a ring of steel. Anyone within a hundred yards of this rocket will be shot and reshot.
- ConnectionsReferences Hogan's Heroes: The Hostage (1967)
How they picked Hogan is thanks to the return of the Russian she-spy Marya (Nita Talbot) as now she is the arm-candy of Rauscher and she dropped some hints that Hogan knows something about the underground.
General Von Rauscher takes Hogan to the secret missile site to watch the launch of the rocket where they have a rocket that can destroy any target. Tonight it will be set to search out a certain British naval ship and sink her. But when Hochstetter arrives things begin coming apart. And with a Russian scientist being the head of the program, we may know why Marya has appeared.
A nice story that was interesting from beginning to end. And again the acting of Nita Talbot makes the story even more entertaining as she plays her regular character that sweet-talks everyone she meets. An enjoyable watch.
