The headline on the fake newspaper given to Sergeant Schultz ( John Banner ) reads: "SONDERAUSGABE" (Special Edition) "Der Krieg Ist zu Ende" (The War is Over).
There was a similar story line in a McHale's Navy (1962) episode, where the protagonist convinced others that the war is over.
The prisoner Thomas, who replaces Carter for this episode, is not given a first name.
This is the only episode that prisoner Thomas appears in. He is dressed up and hair combed to look similar to Carter.
