One of Tim's Biggest Mess-Ups Ever Results In One Of The Show's Best Episodes Ever!!!

Warning: Spoilers
Blow-Up was simply PERFECT, FLAWLESS, and BEYOND COMPARE!!! This hilarious episode starts of with an UNFORGETTABLE Tool Time segment where Tim makes a color out of Al!!! You'd have to see it to believe just how HILARIOUS it was!!! The scene then switches to the Taylor home where Tim, Jill, Joe, and Marie go to a dinner at the library in Jill's honor while Al brings the kids miniature golfing. Once the four adults arrive at the dinner, one of the most memorable scenes in the show's history occurs as the picture that Tim picked out of Jill to put up in the hall at the dinner is a HORRIBLY EMBARRASSING driver's license photo. It may have been humiliating for Jill, but it was HYSTERICAL for the audience as we wonder why Tim would put up SUCH an embarrassing picture.

Obviously, when they get home, Jill is furious and storms upstairs while Al and the kids come home, Al very upset as well, but not for that great of a reason. They report that Brad beat Al at mini golfing and Al is a sore loser over it.

Tim apologizes to Jill on another hilarious Tool Time and gets her a new blown up picture of herself that looks a lot better. He even gets all the signatures on it again from all of the dinner attendants. Jill forgives Tim and he then uses the bad picture as part of a mini golf course that he sets up in the backyard where Brad beats Al again, but by Tim cheating for him!

Overall, when Tim makes his biggest mistakes is when the episodes are the most funny and this episode is an absolute jewel in the best TV series ever!!! Basically, I'll just say that this episode was SO MIND-BLOWINGLY HILARIOUS and HYSTERICAL that if you were to choose one episode in the WHOLE SERIES to introduce the show to somebody and show them just how funny it is, this should be one of the episodes in consideration without a doubt!!!

Kaboom!

Warning: Spoilers
We have a very colorful Tool Time to start the show, as Tim decides to create the color Al. It's a very simple process, he just has a machine scan the reluctant Mr. Borland, then it mixes the elements and voilà: Tim is able to paint Al on a wall. Words fail me. At home, Joe stops by to see Tim, who is disassembling his hot rod. He's going to send it to a paint guy...I guess he didn't want to paint it Al himself. While the guys talk shop, Jill and Marie talk dresses. The library fund-raiser is on Saturday and Jill is trying on some new sparkly black dress that cost a pretty penny. Fortunately she didn't pay for it, as it was just a loaner. I guess some stores let people take expensive dresses home to try on, just based on your word that you'll bring it back. Besides, Joe has a dress guy that can get her a perfect imitation knock-off. So while clothing is no longer a problem, Tim is suddenly presented with a new one: he forgot to provide a photo of Jill that Marie was going to have blown up for the fund-raiser. I'm sure this won't go wrong at all. So, on to the night of the fund-raiser: Joe's dress guy was a no-show and a frantic Jill paced around the house in her robe. Unfortunately, this would be only the beginning of what was to be an extremely humiliating night.

Joe's dress guy eventually came through, but it turns out it wasn't the imitation dress he'd promised. Worse yet, remember the photo Tim was supposed to provide? Well, he managed to find the most unflattering picture of Jill ever taken: the one on her driver's license. That single-handedly flushes her whole night down the toilet, never mind that the gathering liked her speech and that the library made their money. When Jill goes off on Tim, he's quick to blame Marie, who points out she had actually told Tim about the picture three weeks in advance, but like the procrastinating numbskull that he is, he just plain forgot. Tim's restful night's sleep on the couch is interrupted by Al bringing the boys home from miniature golfing, and he's still sore over Brad's hole in one. In addition to taking his job very seriously, Al also takes miniature golf very seriously, and as a result of his behavior on the course, Al is banned from ever returning to the Putt-Putt Panorama (until Season 4). When Tim and Jill finally talk again, she says it wasn't just the embarrassingly gawdy picture, but it's Tim's lack of attention to the important things in her life that irks her. Of course, she pays attention to Tim whenever he talks about the hot rod, as she can name every single part to it without even looking. However, things eventually begin to work themselves out as not only does Tim make a half-assed attempt at an apology on Tool Time, but he even blows up a much nicer picture of Jill. As for the fugly one, Tim uses it in a makeshift mini golf course he created in his backyard, so Brad and Al can have a rematch. Brad scores another hole in one, and Al would have too had Tim not installed a little cheating mechanism. The jerk-ass.

Insufferable is what I found this episode to be. Sure, it's a relatable story: I'm sure many of us have had embarrassing pictures of us put on display for the whole public to see, and a driver's license picture would be a double whammy. Incidentally, was Jill stoned when she got her license picture taken? Who grins like that after being at the DMV? Maybe Tim was standing beside the camera pulling stupid faces while she posed. Regardless, her attitude was shameful, and Al acting like a child over mini-golf was cringe inducing. This was also Robert Picardo's last appearance as Joe Morton. Too bad, I thought the character was a nice fit, but I guess Picardo was needed elsewhere. If you liked that short lived character, if you want to see how goofy Jill looks on her driver's license, then I guess I recommend Blow Up. Not one of the series' best, though.
