When the Folks are Away, the Kids Will Play...
ExplorerDS678912 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
We begin with Tim ignoring a big bill covering things he's broken and even shredding the Tool Time script, because... well, I guess he feels he's above such things. Anyway, tonight is the Cable Awards and Cooking with Irma will more than likely beat Tool Time...again. Al is very confident they have a shot at winning this year, but Tim would much rather skip the ceremony and go to a Halloween party. Al suggests they do both. Well, as if that weren't bad enough, Mark is stricken with an ear infection and can't go trick or treating with Randy, and the babysitter dropped out. Who's gonna do the job now? Why not ask Wilson? Anyway, in comes Brad, followed by his new friend Jason, the local dweeb. He tells Tim he's a die-hard Tool Time fan, and naturally, he buys it. Tim convinces Brad to keep an eye on the house that night, and Jason sides with him. I'll bet he's got some ulterior motive. As sure as Tim loves more power! He convinces him to throw a party. With babes! So, on to the banquet, where Cooking with Irma sweeps the Cable Awards, as expected.

While Tim, Al and the ladies prepare to duck out of the awards, Jason's friends show up to the party, and as expected, a worried Jill calls up to check on things, and Jason nearly blows their cover. So while the kids jam and Brad gets to first base with some girl, the impossible happens. Um, besides that. Yeah, Tool Time actually won an award for their show on engines! So Tim and Al, in his mouse costume, (for the record, Ilene dresses as a big piece of cheese) go on stage, accept the award and give an improvised speech. Well, at least their night got better. The night at the Taylor house is about to get worse: Randy comes home amidst the chaos, and that jerkoff Jason has him thrown out. Fortunately, Wilson is home. Now why wasn't he asked to watch the boys? Wouldn't have had an episode, I guess. Brad begs him not to fink on him, but it's too late. Tim and Jill in costume, a knight and dragon respectively, come home unexpectedly, and boy is Brad's goose cooked. He admits it was all Jason's idea, but Tim is in denial because he actually believes Jason is a Tool Time fan. However, the punk admits he's never seen the show. So Brad is put on punishment, one month grounded to be exact, and Tim and Jill wonder if the little wiener-head will actually learn anything from this experience. Hopefully he will when he grows up, as they hope he has a son just like him.

Nothing too special about this episode. Sure Brad throws an unauthorized party and is rightfully punished for it. Oh, and of course we get to meet Jason, an unlikeable lad who unfortunately we will be seeing in a few more episodes. So was there a lesson to be learned from all that happened here? I guess...don't let your friends talk you into doing something that's wrong? Especially if your friends are anything like Jason. Anyway, nothing too special or really memorable, but it's not a bad episode. Worth checking out around Halloween or any time of the year.
