We've got a wacky start to this one: Randy comes home with a godawful hair cut, which Brad makes fun of...ironically, a few episodes later he'll be the one with a godawful hair cut of his own. We're introduced to our running gag: Tim unintentionally nuking fish in his dishwasher, and finally, our main plot: Marty has lost his job and is having little luck finding another. Always willing to help his younger brother, Tim steps in and offers Marty a job helping him and Al build a new set for Tool Time. Since he's desperate at this point, Marty accepts the offer. They haven't worked together since they ran their little lube and oil change stand as children. But maybe this will work out for the better...and maybe Tim will actually be able to cook a fish in the dishwasher properly. They were warned beforehand that brothers shouldn't work together, especially brothers as immature as Marty and Tim. But hey, what's the worst that could happen? So the next day, Marty joined the Tool Time crew and right away he complained about not having a parking space, and when he finds out Al hasn't one either, he suggests that he alternate with Tim, who does. It doesn't stop there, next they start bickering about wood and the rain forest, and then Tim nags Marty over the way he paints.
Brad has a new girlfriend, Angela. She's a motor-mouthed valley girl. That's about it. She is quite the looker, however. Tim comes home, complaining about Marty and wants to fire him just because of one bad day. He goes outside to talk to Wilson about it, who relays to him the story of Romulus and Remus, and how the former killed the latter when they became disagreeable. When Tim goes back to Tool Time to try and straighten things out with Marty, the wiener-head wants to quit. Now, while he's being irrational, I do agree with him when he says Tim is very bossy and a control freak. See, being boss and being bossy are two different things, and I can't understand who was dumb enough to put Tim in charge in the first place. So, Marty heads over to Harry's Hardware to peruse the want ads with Benny. Tim comes by for some reason and of course, the two brothers start acting like idiots again and proceed to throw things at each other. That's when Harry intervenes and bluntly tells them to shape up or he'll throw them out. Tim and Marty are now in the same boat, having been kicked out of every place, except a hardware store. They make amends and agree never to work together again. Good, glad they're friends again, so now it's time for the unveiling of the new Tool Time set. It'd slightly bigger than the last one, and it has a little bit of everything, including memorabilia for Tim and Al, and even a new interview area. And get ready for a bunch of stupid gags revolving around said area.
Well, what can I say about this one? It isn't terrible, but it's certainly not one of my favorites. Once again, Tim is up on his high horse because he's the most successful of the five Taylor boys, and why was everybody giving him a hard time over parking spaces? He doesn't own the company or the studio, so who is he to assign parking spaces? Just an excuse for stupid gags, I guess. So despite some flaws in the writing, this one isn't too bad. It's nothing to write home about either. So, the working world is very unfair at times, and Tim and Marty are prime examples of people you wouldn't want to work for or with. They both acted like idiots and you don't really want to route for either character. What else can I say? "Oh Brother" is the perfect summary of this episode.
