What a day this is going to be. Tim's finally ready to install the steering column and gages in his hot rod, but it looks as though he'll be doing it alone, as Brad and Mark, who's still going through a dorky Goth phase, have other plans. As if that weren't enough, Marty stops by looking for a big favor. He wants to take the missus out of town for the weekend for their anniversary, and although their mom agreed to watch Claire and Gracie, Marty decided to lighten her load and ask Tim and Jill to watch Gracie. They're more than happy to oblige. Next day, the little girl and her big suitcases are dropped off at the Taylor residence. Marty gives them a breakdown of the do's and don't's, and a big 'don't' is watching Tool Time, as it gives Gracie nightmares. Though she isn't the only one. Right away, Jill assumed the babysitting duties so Tim could work on his hot rod, but wouldn't you know, she's got to go down and fill in for a therapist who called out, leaving Tim with Gracie. Shouldn't be a problem, right? He's helped raise three kids...all boys, but still. So Gracie and Uncle Tim play with stuffed animals, and Randy relates to them what it was like to play a lion cub. After that, Tim attempts to coax his niece into helping him with the hot rod, but instead, she wants to have a tea party.

Tim puts on quite a convincing Queen Mum at the tea party, and all in all, it was a very fulfilling afternoon. Jill came home to find Tim and Gracie asleep on the couch. So precious. This experience seems to have made Tim do some thinking, about what he and Jill missed by not having a girl of their own, and right then and there, he suggests they try to have one. Jill has to remind him about his vasectomy, even though they can be reversed. But besides the biological aspects, Jill shoots down his idea, stating she has a "career now" and that they'd decided to stop at 3 kids. Regardless, Tim can't keep girls off his mind. No more than usual, right? But this time, it's little girls... come on, you know what I mean! He and Al build dollhouse furniture on Tool Time, where Tim once again shows what bad luck he has with glue, getting miniature chairs stuck to his back, while Al learns what it feels like to have a table glued to your head...albeit a miniature one. But regardless of Tim's feelings, Jill still denies him, and his girlie Tool Times are not well received by the boys either...since when did they start watching it again? Thankfully, Wilson was there to lend a supportive ear, along with his niece, Willow, who ends up reminding Tim of certain girlie aspects that aren't so pleasant: periods and dating felons. The latter doesn't apply to all girls, mind you. Basically, Wilson advises him to just stick with being the uncle of girls as opposed to having one of his own. So Tim drops the notion of having a daughter and will instead spend more time with his nieces and hope that one day their boys will have girls.

Very cute watching Tim play with his niece. The chemistry between the two is excellent, and again, it felt like I was really watching an uncle and a niece, and not just two actors. Now as for the part where Jill rejects Tim's idea of having a daughter, I think we're all reminded of the first episode of Season 3 when Jill wanted to have another baby and Tim didn't agree to it. She got on his case, telling him to be more open minded...and now the tables are turned and she doesn't take her own advice. Was there seriously nobody else Tim could have married? She is SO selfish. Yes, I realize having a baby is a big commitment and the woman bares the brunt of pretty much all of it, but Jill wouldn't even listen to reason or, for that matter, consider Tim's idea of adoption! There, she wouldn't have to do any work. On the other hand, I can understand Tim getting a little carried away, spending time with his niece and wanting to have a girl. It's always easier when it's somebody else's kid. Interesting note about Claire and Gracie Taylor, next season they jump about 3 years in age. Here, they're 4, but in Season 8, they're 8. They must have the same aging disorder as Rocky Balboa Jr. Anyway, I definitely recommend this episode. It's a lot of fun and it has a lot of heart. Also, watch for Easter eggs, mainly relating to Tim Allen and Jonathan Taylor Thomas' other famous Disney characters.
