It's Thanksgiving week on Tool Time as Tim and Al discuss what they're most thankful for...mostly tools. Al's Swiss Army knife and Tim's array of souped up kitchen gadgets. Last but not least, the Binford Vacu-Suit Al is wearing. It's exactly what it sounds like: wearing a vacuum for a suit. At first it works perfectly, but as expected, the suit inflates almost as big as Tim's ego and Al nearly floats away. At home, plans for Thanksgiving dinner seem pretty minimal, however that may soon change, for a die-hard Tool Time fan has offered Tim the use of his luxury box at the Lions' Thanksgiving Day game! But would Jill go along with it? Surprisingly...yes. No work for her, so she's in. Now that Silverdome luxury box lives up to its name. A panoramic view of the game, a TV in the bathroom, it was like Heaven. Right away, Tim is introduced to a semi-familiar face. Remember the clerk at the Alpena airport in "Twas the Flight Before Christmas" and the gas station attendant in "The Tool Man Delivers"? Turns out they're triplets. Ted, the nice one, works at the Silverdome, and he's offered to give Tim a grand tour, including the water and power facilities. Yeah, I have a bad feeling about that too.

So after Randy the hypocrite complains about how this abundance of free food could've fed some needy families and aptly helps himself to a crab puff, the Taylors receive another visitor: a swanky, fast-talking television producer named Irv Schmayman, who apparently had been assigned the same box the Taylors are currently occupying. Looks like they're going to be sharing, but then isn't that the spirit of the season? Irv's got two gorgeous babe secretaries, which softens the men up a bit (figuratively speaking). So while Irv bores the rest of the Taylors with his show biz anecdotes, Ted takes Tim on that tour. It was everything he's dreamed it would be. To top it all off, Tim gets to be on Jumbovision! He makes an ass of himself, naturally, and when trying to adjust the monitor's contrast, he predictably goofs. He shuts off the power to the whole Silverdome! Which means no football game! Technicians struggle to repair the damage, while Tim finds himself stuck in the control room with an angry mob after his head just outside the door. As bad as his Thanksgiving was turning out, Jill and the boys were having a great time with Irv and his friends, and even special guest star Rodney Dangerfield. The laughs never stop. Fortunately, due to some primitive ingenuity by way of Tim smacking the control panel out of anger, the power comes back on! The Lions retake the field and Tim goes back to his box. As a token of good grace, Rodney makes a special guest appearance on Tool Time, and of course Tim can't stop heckling him to get him to tell jokes. It was rough, I tell ya.

The final Home Improvement Thanksgiving episode, and I think it works pretty well. Sure Thanksgiving isn't as popular of a holiday as Halloween and Christmas, and there's only so much you can do with a Thanksgiving episode of a sitcom, so setting it in a Silverdome luxury box was a fresh idea. Watch for special guest stars Tom Poston as the nicest of the 'ed' boys, Alex Rocco as obnoxious Irv Schmayman, and of course, the late, great Rodney Dangerfield. This Thanksgiving, get your game on and spend the holiday with the Taylors and friends at the Silverdome. If you're looking for a good time, you won't be left in the dark.
