This Thanksgiving program went where no sitcom had gone before with the use of stop-motion animation in the style of the Rankin/Bass special, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964). When Tim Allen falls asleep watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964), he dreams of his family as wooden figures. For the dream sequence, each of the main cast members were animated in the same style as the classic "Rudolph" special by Will Vinton Studios, best known for its Claymation work besides creating such iconic characters as the California Raisins. During the segment Richard Karn (Al Borland) resembles Burl Ives from the Rankin/Bass television special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964).
