Time for Matthew to get a job.
Sleepin_Dragon8 May 2024
Henry has finally had enough of Matthew's lazy attitude, he's been pinching the small change and generally doing nothing, he takes him for a visit to The Job Centre.

They created two very nice nice characters in Henry and Matthew, one a little sour, a hard working company man, who's been used to a bachelor lifestyle, and the hand grenade, a layabout who wants everything handed to him on a plate, it's the clash that makes the show so watchable.

I may be easily pleased, but this had me laughing several times. Henry has a definite caustic wit, he's sarcastic, and when his buttons are pushed, he lets rip, but he did do his best by his son here.

Favourite scene, that moment in the business meeting where Henry spots his son in the restaurant. The Job Centre scene, also a very amusing moment, like guy was really pushed to the limits.

It's been a fine first series.

7/10.

Small Change

With money in short supply. Matthew looks for a job but he is very fussy down at the Job Centre.

Meanwhile Henry is eyeing up a chance of promotion at work.

It was inevitable that Henry and his boss end up at the same wine bar where Matthew gets a job as a waiter.

It must be one of those wine bars where they had no such thing as staff training or an induction. Matthew is a disaster as a waiter putting Henry's employment prospect in jeopardy. He also puts on a funny Italian accent for no reason.

What struck me the most. Henry has diligently worked for the same company for 20 years. The boss cannot invite him to the office and just tell him he has been promoted.

Well this is sitcom land. There has to be a dinner with the boss with disastrous consequences.
