The final scene consists of the four members of the Homicide squad looking through a doorway into the lens of the camera. The scene can be interpreted as the squad farewelling Inspector David 'Mac' Mackay, or as the actors saying goodbye to the viewers.
Don Barker would reprise the role of Det. Sgt. Harry White around a year later in another Crawford Productions series finale, Son of Bluey (1977), when the Homicide squad are called to investigate the attempted murder of Det. Sgt. Bluey Hills.
