Elevator man Jesse Flouge (Jimmy Cross) is badmouthing Mr. Bertram Heyward (Donald Buka), a man the owners has brought aboard to cut expenses. He is overheard by Mr. Heyward and later fired in favor of a self-service elevator. When Mr. Heyward tells Mike (Merry Anders), Greta (Lori Nelson), and Loco (Barbara Eden) that if he doesn't cut costs he could be fired they try to increase expenses through repairs. After Loco feels ill after riding in the elevator alone, she sees neighbor psychiatrist Dr. Strick (John Bryant). Mike's idea is to have the doctor verify that Loco must be accompanied in the elevator, forcing the original terms of their lease. When Loco naturally messes things up, the ladies decide to take matters in their own hands in the battle of machine against man.
